No matter how foolish we think these laws are, that prevent honest citizens from protecting themselves through non-lethal methods, they are still the law. We don't make the laws, we just have to live with them the same as everyone else.
We will not knowingly ship any products to a location where they are prohibited by law, but we cannot possibly be held responsible for knowing the latest laws in every city, of every state, in the entire country.
Below is a list of some of the restrictions that we're aware of. However, we do not guarantee this list is 100% accurate or up to date. Ultimately, it's your responsibility to ascertain the legality in your area. You should always check with your local or state authorities for the legality of these products in your area.

Shipping:
At this time we only offer shipping within the United States. If you are going to ship these products overseas, you will need to provide us with a shipping address within the USA, and it will be your responsibility to ship the products to their final destination, and to check the legality of these products at that destination.
All orders are shipped in discreet packaging (either a plain box or a standard US Mail shipping box) There are no markings on the outside of the package that indicate what is inside the package, except for the return address on the shipping label which says "North American Security Products"
All shipping costs are calculated automatically at checkout.
All orders must be prepaid including shipping. If we accidentally send you a wrong product on our mistake, or if you receive an item that is defective, we will replace it with the correct product at no cost for you, and we will refund your return shipping charges for sending the item back to us. Your return shipping charges are not refundable for non defective items.
We generally ship all orders by US Mail. If you live at an address where the
postal service does not deliver, please let us know in the "comments" box during
your checkout, and we can ship your order with FEDEX
Important: We only ship our products 1 time
All orders are shipped with either delivery confirmation or signature
confirmation, to be sure they arrive at their destination. We've had a small
number of packages returned to us as either unclaimed, or undeliverable to the
shipping destination.
If sent by US Mail signature confirmation, and no one is there to accept the package, the US mail will generally leave a notice for you to pick up the package at your local post office. They will only hold the package for up to 15 days before they return it to us. So if you have not received your order within 10 days, please contact us so we can determine if it's still at your local post office.
If sent by FEDEX, and no one is there to accept the package, FEDEX will leave a notice on your door, and will generally try to deliver it again the next day, up to 3 times. If no one is available to accept the package after 3 delivery attempts, they will return the package to us.
We do not make any profit from shipping charges (in fact we often lose a few dollars on the cost of shipping when we add in the cost of the box and packaging materials)
If we receive a package back as unclaimed or undeliverable, we will void the order and refund the purchase price MINUS THE ORIGINAL SHIPPING CHARGES. We will not charge you any restocking fees, but we will deduct our original shipping costs form any returned/undeliverable orders.
Please be sure you use a correct shipping address, and someone is available to receive or pick up the package.
If we are unable to ship any of the products you ordered, due to them being illegal at the shipping destination... We will contact you by email, and ask if you have an alternate shipping address, where the items are legal.
We will attempt to contact you up to 3 times. If we do not receive a reply back, with an alternate shipping address, after three attempts the order will be voided, and your money will be refunded back to the credit card used for the purchase.

Time of Shipping:
All orders are generally processed within 24 to 48 hours after receiving them
(Mon - Fri). All in stock products are generally shipped within 2-3 business days after confirming the order. Most orders take between 3-5 days, (after we ship) to arrive at their destination. (depending on the shipping address)
If we can not ship within that time, or if we are out of stock on a particular item, we will notify you by email or phone, and your credit card will not be charged for those items.
Summary: After you place an order, all in stock items should be at your door within 7 to 10 business days.
Once you place an order, you will receive an email receipt of your order within a few minutes. Please check it for accuracy. If any of the information is incorrect, please contact us right away so we can make any adjustments before we process your order. Returns and Refunds:
All products purchased on this site come with our full 90 day guarantee.
We will gladly accept any returned merchandise for a full
exchange of the same item, or a refund, in accordance with
our return policies. Providing that the returned item is
sent back in its original package and that all included
items which were in the original package are also included.
The item must not show any signs of damage caused by misuse
or abuse in any way or we will be forced to not accept the
item back for an exchange or refund. Non defective items are
subject to a standard 15% restocking fee.
If you receive an item that is defective:
We urge you to test your purchase as soon as you receive it. If for any reason it is not working properly please call or email us right away. If we can not fix the issue over the phone, we will replace it immediately. Occasionally someone contacts us with a non functioning stun gun or personal alarm and all it needs is a new battery.
If you return an item that is defective, or one that you did not order, we will reimburse you for your return shipping costs and reship the correct item at no cost to you. If the item is not defective, you are responsible for your own return shipping charges.
Do not ship any products back without contacting us first. If it shows up at our door unannounced, it may take longer for us to exchange it. If we are expecting it, we can take care of it right away.
Products must be returned with original packaging and must include all items that were included with the original purchase. Any item(s) that show obvious signs of misuse or abuse will not be accepted for refund or exchange.
Non defective items:
All non defective returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
Item(s) must be returned in working, resalable condition, with original packaging so that we can at least resell them at a discounted, slightly used price. Any item(s) that show signs of misuse or abuse will not be accepted for refund.
Opened pepper sprays are not eligible for refund since we have no way of knowing how many times they have been used and we can't resell them. Unless they are defective, in which case we will immediately exchange it for a new one.
Unopened pepper sprays in their original packaging are eligible for the full 90 day refund policy.
If you receive the wrong order in part: Call us right away and we will immediately exchange any part of the order that was incorrect for the proper items. Items must be returned in original unopened package and in unused condition.
Fighting DVDs: Instructional fighting DVDs that have been opened are only returnable for an in store credit of the original purchase price, minus the restocking fee, or for replacement of the same DVD title, at the sole discretion of North American Security Products, llc.
Pepper sprays can only be returned if they are still in their original unopened package, unless they are defective, in which case we will immediately replace it for a non defective one.
In case of returning goods, please send us an email with your name, order number, product name, and the problem you have with the product. We are not accepting any returns without this information.
*These policies are subject to change at the sole discretion of North American Security Products, LLC. We do not change our policies without good reason, but if we notice a pattern of abuse concerning our liberal return policies, we will adjust them accordingly.

(D) Any device designed or redesigned, made or remade, or readily converted or restored, and intended to stun or disable a person by means of electric shock.
Subchapter II. Firearms and Destructive Devices. General Provision 6-2311. Registration requirements:
(a) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, no person or organization in the District of Columbia "District" shall receive, possess, control, transfer, offer for sale, sell, give, or deliver any destructive device, and no person or organization in the District shall possess or control any firearm, unless that person or organization holds a valid registration certificate for the firearm.

"Electric gun" means any portable device that is electrically operated to project a missile or electromotive force.
Chapter 134-16 Restriction on possession, sale, gift or delivery of electric guns.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, including a licensed manufacturer, licensed importer or licensed dealer, to possess, offer for sale, hold for sale, sell, give, lend or deliver any electric gun.
(b) Any electric gun in violation of subsection (a) shall be confiscated and disposed of by the chief of police.

Massachusetts State Law. Ann. Laws of Massachusetts. Chapter 140. Sale of Firearms. Section 131J: Sale or possession of electrical weapons; penalties. Section 131J. No person shall sell, offer for sale or possess a portable device or weapon from which an electric current, impulse, wave or beam may be directed, which current, impulse, wave or beam is designed to incapacitate temporarily, injure or kill. Whoever violates this provision of this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred nor more than one thousand dollars or by imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than two years in a jail or house of correction, or both.

The Michigan Penal Code Act 328 of 1931. Chapter 750.224a Portable device or weapon directing electrical current, impulse, wave, or beam; sale or possession prohibited; testing.
(1) A person shall not sell, offer for sale, or possess in this state a portable device or weapon from which an electric current, impulse, wave or beam is designed to incapacitate temporarily, injure, or kill.
(3) A person who violates this section is guilty of a felony.

NEW JERSEY: Illegal
New Jersey State Law. New Jersey Stat. Ann. Title 2C. New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice. Chapter 39-1. Prohibited weapons and devices.
(Section "r" summarized from Chapter 2C:39-1) "Weapon" means anything readily capable of lethal use or of inflicting serious bodily injury. The term includes, but is not limited to all (4) stun guns; and any weapon or (this section refers to tear gas and has been updated in 1995) other device which projects, releases, or emits tear gas or any other substance intended to produce temporary physical discomfort or permanent injury through being vaporized or otherwise dispensed in the air.
(t) "Stun gun" means any weapon or other device which emits an electrical charge or current intended to temporarily or permanently disable a person.
Senate, No. 2871 -- L.1985, c. 360
Senate Bill No. 2781, as amended by the Senate Law, Public Safety and Defense Committee, prohibits as a crime of the fourth degree the possession of a stun gun by any person, including a law enforcement officer. A crime of the fourth degree carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to 18 months, a fine of up to $7,500, or both. Prior to being amended the bill classified possession of a crime in the third degree. {Editor’s Note: According to Len Lawson of NJ Legislative Council, (609) 292-4625) NJ does not classify crimes in felonies versus misdemeanors. The highest crimes are in first degree on down to fourth degree. A fourth degree penalty is a serious charge and is generally considered a misdemeanor in common terms. It is however an indictable offense. A fourth degree crime does contain "a presumption of non-custodial sentencing," meaning that there is not imprisonment if there are no prior convictions. In some cases the sentencing is obviated from one’s record if there is a period of good behavior following the charge.}
The committee amended the bill to include a provision authorizing the Attorney General, at his discretion, to exempt law enforcement officers from the prohibition against possession stun guns.
The bill also was amended by the committee to include stun guns in the definition of "weapon" in paragraph r. N.J.S. 2C:39-1.
(Chapter 2C:39-1)
(h) Stun guns. Any person who knowingly has in his possession any stun gun is guilty of a crime in the fourth degree.

(10) Dangerous weapon" means any firearm, whether loaded or unloaded ***; any device designed as a weapon and capable of producing great harm ***; any electric weapon, as defined in s. 941.295(4); or any other device or instrumentality which, in the manner it is used or intended to be used, is calculated or likely to produce death or great bodily harm.
Chapter 941.295 Possession of electric weapon. Subsection (1) On or after July 1, 1982, whoever sells, transports, manufactures, possesses or goes armed with any electric weapon is guilty of a Class E felony. Subsection (4) In this section, "electric weapon" means any device which is designed, redesigned, used or intended to be used, offensively or defensively, to immobilize or incapacitate persons by the use electric current.

a. In order to possess a Taser or stun gun, an individual must have a valid FOID card, as is currently required for firearms.
b. Sellers of Taser or stun guns in the state of Illinois must check the buyers FOID card and keep the record of sale for ten years, the same requirements for firearms sales.
c. When a licensed firearms dealer sells a Taser or stun gun, they must request a background check of the buyer.
d. The 24-hour waiting period required for long guns, shotguns, and rifles, will also apply to taser and stun gun purchases.
SUMMARY: Possession of stunning devices are banned in the sate of Illinois without the proper licensing.

It further shall be unlawful for any person to possess, fire or discharge any such stun gun or electronic device within the City. Nothing in this subsection shall be held to apply to any member of the Baltimore City Police Department or any other law enforcement officer while in the performance of his or her official duty (Ord. 385. 1985).

It further shall be unlawful for any person to possess, fire, discharge or activate any electronic weapon within the limits of Howard County. (C.B. 38 1985).

Philadelphia City Ordinance. Statute 10-825 Stun Guns. (1) Definitions. (a) Stun Gun. Any device which expels or projects a projectile which, upon coming in contact with a person, is capable of inflicting injury or an electric shock to such person. (2) Prohibited conduct. Nor person shall own, use, possess, sell or otherwise transfer any "stun gun." (3) Penalty. Any person violating any provision of this section shall be subject to a fine or not more than three hundred (300) dollars and /or imprisonment for not more than ninety (90 days.)

NEW YORK CITY: Illegal
Administrative Code of the City of New York 10-135 Prohibition on sale and possession of electronic stun guns.
a. As used in this section, "electronic stun gun" shall mean any device designed primarily as a weapon, the purpose of which is to stun, render unconscious or paralyze a person by passing an electronic shock to such person, but shall not include an "electronic dart gun" as such term is defined in section 265.00 of the penal law.
b. It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or offer for sale or to have in his or her possession within the jurisdiction of the city any electronic gun.
c. Violation of this section shall be a class A misdemeanor. [Exemptions under this section are provided for police officers operating under regular department procedures or guidelines and for manufacturers of electronic stun guns scheduled for bulk shipment. NOTE: The electronic stun gun is not a "firearm" under the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968 because it does not "...expel a projectile by the action of an explosive..."]

PEPPER SPRAYS:
New York: New York residents may only purchase defense sprays from licensed Firearms Dealers or licensed Pharmacists in that state.
Massachusetts: Massachusetts residents may only purchase defense sprays from licensed Firearms Dealers in that state.
States Where Pepper Sprays Have Some Restrictions
Michigan: OC Pepper spray can be no stronger then a 2% concentrate (Different companies can sell different concentrations.) CS is the only Tear Gas accepted and can be no larger then 35 grams per can. No combination spray allowed.
Wisconsin: Pepper only. No Tear gas, UV Dye or combination sprays. OC can be no stronger then a 10% solution. Can must be between 15-60 grams only. Must have safety feature.
In Washington, D.C.: possession of pepper spray must be registered with the DC Metropolitan Police.
